stairway

This is a stairwell at the Phillips Gallery in NW Washington DC. This photo from April shows a different starwell.

Lovely shot, but for me a little on the flat side, why not add a little bit of contrast ton the shot, should give it a little bit of depth :)

I think those wheel chairs at the bottom are to warn you against leaning over too far. =)

okay okay.. I have to say, I was quite the purist this morning... I am not in the practice of altering my photographs. I aim to capture that which I see.

still... I figured I'd futz around with the digital image and see what a difference it makes. I had a couple of pictures that I was disappointed with... the heat and humidity seemed drain the image as much as it drains this photographer.. but with a little tweaking I was able to adjust and actually get the image back to what I had seen in the first place.

so thank you Suby & Kris for the push (that did not end me at the bottom of the stairwell and in one of those chairs!)

and Natalie.. I think you are right! The guards in this area of the Phillips can be very edgy about photography. I always turn off the flash (flashless photography is okay) ... and I"m aiming at the stairs, but still.. they worry! Maybe the chairs are for those who shoot with flash! lol
