Peek-a-boo

This little fellow lives at the National Zoo. They zoo keeper was busy cleaning the giraffe room and I was lucky enough to catch the little guy peeking in to monitor her progress!
I hope you enjoy seeing DC through my eyes.

The Hubble Space Telescope on display at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Every time I look at this thing I think of one thing... aluminum foil. So many amazing space things remind me of the little flying objects we'd make as kids.. or things my own kids would concoct. This amazing creation looks so unbelievably flimsy. It got me thinking... is it imagination without limitation that ultimately leads to unlimited destinations???Labels: Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian
We passed by this shop in Dupont Circle. "Daddy & Son Camiceria Taliana" ~ I couldn't resist taking a picture of my son and his daddy in front of that window. And since today is the birthday of my son's Daddy I thought it a good day to post this picture. See those blue eyes?? I fell into those blue eyes from the other side of a crowded room 20 years ago. Happy Birthday, David!
One city site I really enjoy is the creative ways people find to grow their garden. Often it will be a small plot of land, maybe 3 by 6 feet, and crammed full of love. Sunflowers are popular summer stock. These are the six foot variety. I like the contrast of this natural beauty in the urban setting.
Fahrney's Pens ~ the write place since 1929! 1317 F street NW, just a block from Metro Center and right near the guy with his tongue sticking out!
I saw this on a lawn in Georgetown and thought it a vast improvement over the old plastic flamingos of days gone by.Labels: lawn decorations, pink, statues
After Ernesto last week, there were many of these makeshift graveyards throughout DC. When we lived in NYC we also saw many of them. I am always surprised and more than a little disappointed that adults will just toss their broken things to the ground like that. This case was particularly annoying as these umbrellas are at the base of a trash can. Does it really take that much effort to place the trash INTO the can???
