perfect day for sketching

Here's my little girl and her daddy , both doing what they love to do! On this day they are sitting on a stone wall above the C&O Canal
in Georgetown, enjoying the first really perfect-weather, beautiful day of the September Season. (my daughter informed me that September was just taking it's time figuring out how to be) I was sitting behind them both, knitting a baby booty for the soon to be newest member of our family. I looked up couldn't help but take this picture.

a great spot for a perfect day

Today we walked to Montrose Park in Georgetown. It is on R street & 38th st. It was a bit of a walk, but such a beautiful day for it! We made a quick detour to our favorite gelato place for sorbet... blood orange and grapefruit on a cone. YUM... absolutely fantastically refreshing!
The trees will soon be blooming and offer more shade for this little spot. Still, we found some and sat on the grass while the kids played. There was much swinging, running around and the maze. In the middle of this picture you can see a small gazebo like structure which houses a bench or two and a little shade. On either side is a topiary maze. It is often overgrown, but the kids don't mind since they like to sneak under the growth as much as running around within it.

a house in mint condition

Here is another brightly painted Georgetown House, located on P street. It makes me think of Mint Ice cream. I no longer eat that sort of ice cream... all colored up to fool me into thinking it is really really good. Now my favorite mint ice cream is Chunky Mint Madness by Turtle Mountain... It's soy decadent and delish... and it doesn't need the green coloring to hook me;) YUMMMMMM.

Oh yeah, we were talking about houses... not ice cream... Brightly colored houses look like doll houses to me. I love the attention to detail at the roof, the door and the window frames. I never saw houses like this one growing up! =)

This brightly colored teeny tiny house is on P street in Georgetown. I wonder what it is like inside. I like that the trees are reflected in the windows.
